EYE LINER
PERMANENT MAKE UP (PMU)
PRECARE
This treatment cannot be done whilst pregnant or when breastfeeding, having diabetes, cold sore, herpes or high blood pressure.
Please do not drink any caffeinated drinks or take aspirin/medicine within 24 hours before your procedure.
THE FUNDAMENTALS FOR POST CARE
Eyeliner usually fully heals within about 3 weeks.
The thickness will shrink and it won’t be as dark once healed. Remember any adjustments in thickness and colour will be made at your second appointment.
During this period, however, the eye area may feel like windburn, so it is especially important to:
Not to touch, rub or scratch the treated area. It is very sensitive, and you can peel the pigment off if you treat it inappropriately. Use a q-tip dipped into clean water and gently clean the area.
Keep the area moisturized. Use a q-tip again, dipped in a recommended ointment.
Not to wear makeup, especially mascara, for about a week.
Avoid sun exposure.
Avoid sweating, saunas, gyms and working out as well as swimming pools.
Postpone facials, Botox or any other cosmetic treatments.
Not to sleep on your face and use a clean pillowcase.
Not to wear contact lenses during the aftercare period, especially during initial period of about 3 days.
HEALING SCHEDULE
Day 1
Your freshly done eyeliner is too dark and that can make you regret the decision to have the treatment. Don’t panic! The pigment will fade up to 50%. The true color will be seen after three weeks. Also, the treated area can appear swollen and itchy. It is OK to put some ice wrapped in a cloth on it.
Day 2
Eyelids are not that swollen, but they feel tight and the lash area is sensitive. Don’t touch it, just clean the area gently and apply an ointment if recommended.
Day 3-4
Exfoliation starts which means that some flakes might appear. Most people experience it and it is perfectly normal. If you rip it or scratch it, you can ruin your permanent eyeliner. This is the hardest period to deal with.
The area is itchy and the eyeliner does not look good. Luckily, it does not last for too long.
Days 5-7
Shedding continues and at the end of it, the eyeliner looks faded. Don’t panic and think that the pigment disappeared. The color will return.
Days 7-9
The aftercare period is almost one. You can relax and start wearing some makeup if you need to. It is advised to get new mascara and clean eye shadow brushes, in order to avoid bacteria.
TOUCH-UP SESSION
Tattooing is a two-step procedure, to perfect your new tattoo you will need your perfecting/touch-up session.
If the pigment hasn’t retained properly or you somehow managed to mess up your permanent eyeliner, the first touch up is there to fix it. If it is uneven or has some gaps, we will correct it at this appointment.
You should schedule your permanent makeup touch up 1-3 months after the initial treatment, usually after 4-8 weeks after procedure.
Touch up cannot be done until the skin has finished healing, which takes 4-weeks. Please be patient!
It is essential that you book in for your perfecting session 4- 8 weeks after your first initial consultation. Failing to book in will result in an overall impact on our ability to guarantee the longevity of your tattoo and will take the technician longer to complete.
Proper permanent eyeliner aftercare and healing process is very important for achieving maximum treatment results. Besides, the instructions are pretty straightforward and not that hard to follow at all.
If you are well informed, patient and careful, and if you follow the tips religiously, don’t be scared of any side effects. In fact, expect great results.
